WORKSHOPSinside/out runs photo workshops during the year for both film and digital outdoor and adventure photography. These workshops are designed for casual, hobby and amateur photographers who want to improve their technical skills and creative eye in an outdoor setting. With 28 years of photography experience, I am ready to help you develop your skills whether you are a beginner or have some previous experience with photography. You will learn how to make full use of the settings on your camera, the basics of aperture, shutter speed, priority settings, depth-of-field, fill flash and other technical aspects, as well as composition and creative techniques. The workshops will give you the skills necessary to make better images of the scenics and views you discover in the outdoors as well as people in an outdoor or active setting. INTRO TO ROCK CLIMBING WITH THE WOMEN'S WILDERNESS INSTITUTE - MAY 8, 2010 This one-day course is designed to introduce beginners to the basics of rock climbing outside, including knots, belaying and climbing technique. You’ll have the opportunity to challenge yourself in a supportive group at your own pace. DAUGHTER/PARENT ROCK CLIMBING WITH THE WOMEN'S WILDERNESS INSTITUTE - JUNE 27, 2010 Climb high together with this great introduction to rock climbing outside, tying knots, belaying and safety skills. Have a blast with mom, dad or another important adult in your life and learn outdoor skills to set you up for future adventures together. This adventure is designed for girls age 8 and up, and an adult mentor age 21+; including parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers, etc. Price is per pair and financial aid is available. During this day-long clinic, you’ll cover the key components of catch and release fishing, including rod and reel set-up, casting, tying knots and avoiding line snags. Includes fly fishing gear. For more information or to register for this course, visit the Women's Wilderness Institute link: Women's Wilderness Intro Fly Fishing Trip BACKCOUNTRY FLY FISHING WITH THE WOMEN'S WILDERNESS INSTITUTE - SEPTEMBER 10-12, 2010 Cast and relax in the high-alpine lake terrain of Wyoming’s Snowy Range. After a short backpack in, you’ll establish a basecamp and visit several trout-filled backcountry lakes. You’ll learn all the basics of the equipment, casting, knots, wading and fishing from the shore, plus some advanced skills like selecting flies and different kinds of casting. The hike in is relatively gentle which also makes this course a good introduction to backpacking. No experience necessary. Includes fly fishing gear. For more information or to register for this course, visit the Women's Wilderness Institute link: Women's Wilderness Fly Fishing Trip HIKE OR SNOWSHOE FOR A CAUSE WITH THE TEAM IN TRANING PROGRAMZoe coaches the Rocky Mountain Chapter Hike and Snowshoe Team in Training events, which help to raise money for research to cure blood cancers. Participants agree to fundraise for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society in exchange for 12-16 weeks of instruction, planned & guided hikes or snowshoe hikes, clinics on gear, nutrition, Leave No Trace, trail safety and other aspects of getting out on foot or snowshoes in the wilderness. The program culminates with an all-expense paid amazing hike or snowshoe adventure in incredible locations around the country. See the TNT website for other chapters and events in your area. SNOWSHOE: NOVEMBER 2009-FEBRUARY 2010 Ended. Participants in the TNT Snowshoe program raised over $35,000 for research to help cure blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma! HIKE: MAY-OCTOBER 2010 - Destination: Zion National Park I am excited to announce that I will be coaching the Rocky Mountain Chapter for the fall season of the 2010 Team in Training Hike program and wanted to invite you to come hike with me for a season of great fun, great hikes and great friends. We have a new destination to announce! Our event weekend will be in Zion National Park September 30 - October 3, 2010. Designated in 1919, Zion is Utah's oldest national park. The park is known for its incredible canyons, including The Narrows, which attract canyoneers from around the world. Hiking possibilities are endless.
